How does internet pricing work when looking to buy a new car?
Q. I'm looking into buying a new Nissan Versa and am looking at local dealerships websites. One I found show the MSRP price as well as an internet price for all the Versas listed. All the internet prices all $2,500 to $3,000 cheaper than the MSRP price they have listed. So I wanted to know what does the internet pricing price tag mean and how does it work and can if I can really get the car that much cheaper how do I go about the process? Thanks.

A. Look at competing bidders and their capabilities. Employ business 101 about supply and demand. No competition creates high demand, thus fee structure.

What are the duties of a Sears Merchandising and Pricing Associate?
Q. I have an interview tomorrow for the Merchandising and Pricing Associate position. I was wanting to know what the daily duties for this position consist of. For those that have done this type of work with Sears, or any other company, is it a difficult job? I've worked in retail as a cashier and a sales associate, but this will be my first time going for a position not related specifically to customer service. Thanks for the answers.

A. I'm not sure about Sears specifically, but that title is usually a different name for stocker. Stocking shelves, receiving merchandise shipments, and assuring the goods are ticketed correctly before going onto the sales floor.

Q. I want to completely understand the pricing models, but I want a book that lays it out very clearly and well- one that makes it very easy to understand. Can you please help?? I want to understand fully, not just because I am interested in trading them, but I'm interested in designing them too. I would like a good book that outlines the pricing variables clearly and eaisly to help me understand all that goes into figuring prices.

A. For you to understand option pricing at more than a superficial level you will need a certain mathematical level. Ideally you will have had calculus and will understand the basics of differential equations and how to solve them. Assuming this, there is a very good book by John Hull which is called "Options, Futures and Other Derivatives" which is very expensive new but which you can get used for probably $60 used. It will be worth the money. This is the only options book I ever read (an earlier edition) and I have been trading derivatives since the early 1990s.

What was the original reason for this pricing method?
Q. Many shops have prices set just under a round figure, e.g. $9.99 instead of $10.00 or $99.95 instead of $100.00. It is assumed that this is done because the price seems lower to the consumer. But this is not the reason the practice started. What was the original reason for this pricing method?
Asked by Shinning*finger - Wed Aug 5 05:08:12 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This kind of pricing method is called 'odd number pricing' or 'psychological pricing'. The above answerer is correct. Our psychology tends to favour $9.99 as opposing to $10.00 because 9 is lower than 10. More easy to your soul right because it 'looks' cheaper. ;p The customers will always buy at what they consider to be a bargain price, without full regard for their present needs and the level of the price itself. And customers have a good concept of a 'just price' - a feel for what is fair for the benefits offered. It is all about psychological factors, if you use your analatical thinking when comparing prices ... this tactic will have less effect on you. See here to know more about psychological pricing:

Asked by Citiscloset - Wed Nov 12 13:26:22 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Price fixing is an agreement between business competitors to sell the same product or service at the same price. In general, it is an agreement intended to ultimately push the price of a product as high as possible, leading to profits for all the sellers. Price-fixing can also involve any agreement to fix, peg, discount or stabilize prices. The principal feature is any agreement on price, whether expressed or implied. For the buyer, meanwhile, the practice results in a phenomenon similar to price gouging. Generally, price fixing is illegal, but it may nevertheless be tolerated or even sanctioned by some governments at various times, particularly among those whose countries are developing economies. In the United States, price fixing can… [cont.]

A. It is better for Canadians buying American goods because American goods are now much cheaper in terms of Canadian dollars. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Canadian goods are now more expensive for Americans to purchase.

A. i worked for walmart and i am thinking that they want you to have at least one year of revelent work experience...meaning that you have had a job before and it would probably be a plus if you had some experience doing stock and pricing but walmart will train people to do what they need...i do know that walmart is kind of difficult to get on with because there are already so many employees and people who might have more experience that you probably will get hired first...my suggestion would be that where they ask you what you are applying for check everything that you would be remotly interested in..you can always change departments and at least then you have a better chance of getting in the door

Do Chrysler dealers get holdback on employee pricing deals or sales below invoice?
Q. I was told by a dealer that they don't get their holdback on any employee pricing deals or any sales for below invoice. I had never heard that before. Is this true?
Asked by SKILCZ - Wed Jan 23 13:12:32 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well to answer your question it does not matter if a car is sold below invoice the dealer still gets holdback. Now if it is sold far enough below invoice it is possible that the holdback was eaten away in the deal but the dealer still gets it. As far as employee pricing deals may or may not get holdback on these as well. I am not 100% sure about Chrysler as it has been a while since I have been involved on a employee pricing deal for Chrysler. Remember holdback is not alway a lot of money normally between 1.5 and 3% so the cost of doing business, advertising etc if your on a deal below invoice there is skinny profit there for the dealer and possibly a true loss. Employee pricing deals normally pay the dealer a flat for the sale/delivery… [cont.]
